Turkish translator working on Shafiei Kadkani’s poetry

TEHRAN -- Turkish translator Veysel Basci is currently working on a selection of poems by Iranian poet Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani.
Basci has translated Iranian classics “Tarikh-e Jahangosha-ye Joveyni” and “Resale-ye Sepahsalar”.Basci previously translated Iranian contemporary writer Mostafa Mastoor’s “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” and “Kiss the Lovely Face of God” into Turkish.
His wife, Nezahat Basci, is also preparing 50 stories selected from both classic and contemporary Persian literature for her fellow children in a collection named “A Collection of Iranian Stories.”
The celebrated Persian writer, literary critic, and literary theoretician Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani was born in 1939 in Neishabur. He received his doctorate in Persian literature from the University of Tehran and was a student of such prominent figures as scholars Badiozzaman Foruzanfar, Mohammad Moin and Parviz Natel Khanlari.
He is currently a professor of literature at the University of Tehran and is renowned for his works on literary criticism and modern Persian poetry.
